Track roller assemblies are designed to support undercarriage either moving loads or stationary loads. Radial loads are applied at 90 degrees to the bearing bore or axis of rotation, while thrust loads are applied parallel to the bearing bore or axis of rotation.
There are two types of combined crawler track roller:
One is single flange, another is double flange. The former is easy to manufacture. Therefore, it is widely used. The latter one is rarely used. The purpose of the flange is to prevent the track moving horizontally, so as to prevent derailment when turning.
For an crawler or rubber track, because the inner surface of its track shoe is cast with raised comb teeth to prevent the track moving horizontally, so the lower roller rim is straight without flange. However, each road roller must have double row rims.
A larger number of rollers can make the grounding pressure of the crawler more uniform, so walking on the wet and soft soil can reduce the subsidence. On the other hand, because the length of the crawler is certain, if there are more bottom rollers, the diameter of each one must be small, which increases the rolling resistance. Generally speaking, as the crawler walking mechanism of the combine, the number of rollers is usually 3-4pcs, and rarely used 6pcs.
